Scholarly consensus (ijmaa‘) as binding proof and the first consensus that occurred in Islam

Ijma` means the agreement of the mujtahids of this ummah after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a Shar‘i ruling. Ijma` is of two types: definitive and presumptive.
