Here is how to treat non-Muslims: 1. Islam urges Muslims to show kindness to parents even if they are non-Muslims. 2. Islam advises Muslims to treat neighbors kindly even if they are not Muslim. 3. Islam encourages Muslims to ensure justice and show kindness to non-Muslims who are not fighting Muslims. 4. Islam prohibits killing non-Muslims living under Muslim rule. 5. Islam prohibits wronging a mu‘ahid, detracting from his rights, or burdening him with more work. 6. Islam prohibits committing transgression and commands justice.

Allah has commanded Muslims to disavow disbelief and its people. But this does not mean that there cannot be some kind of love or affection for some reason between a Muslim and an individual disbeliever, either because of ties through kinship or marriage, or because of some kindness or favour, and the like, while still disavowing his religion and being opposed to him in that regard. Disavowing and resenting the disbeliever is not because of his lineage, homeland, colour or image; rather it is because of the disbelief that he follows and his opposition to the religion of Allah. There is no contradiction between that and loving for him to be guided; rather this is how all the messengers and believing slaves of Allah were with their people.

1- There is nothing wrong with buying items on Black Friday and taking advantage of the discounts and deals that are offered, even if this is connected to Thanksgiving or follows it, or these discounts are offered for people to buy Christmas gifts, so long as the purchaser buys permissible things and does not buy things for the purpose of celebrating Christmas, such as gifts and other things. 2- Muslim shop owners should not single out Black Friday for reducing prices because it involves imitating and resembling the disbelievers.

This is how to distinguish between the true religion and a false religion: 1- The true religion should have come from Allah, 2- It should call for the worship of Allah alone, 3- It should be in accordance with the principles advocated by the Messengers, 4- It should not be self-contradictory, 5- It should guarantee to protect people’s religious commitment, honour, wealth, lives and children, 6- It should be a mercy to mankind, 7- It should include guidance regarding the laws of Allah, 8- It should advocate the best attitudes and actions, 9- It should bring happiness to those who believe, and 10- It should point towards the truth and warn against falsehood.

Islam considers other religions to be either fabricated and false, or abrogated. The fabricated and false religions are those like the ancient Arabian practise of worshipping idols and stones. The abrogated religions are those which were taught by the Prophets who came before our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Muslims believe that there is only One God and that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His Messenger. They also believe that Jesus was a human being with no divine qualities. Christians, on the other hand, believe in the divinity of Jesus as the Son of God and the second person of the holy trinity. They hold that divinity can be incarnated in humanity and that Jesus (Peace be upon him) was crucified by the Jews, dying on the cross as a ransom for mankind to atone for original sin.

Characteristics of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah are: 1- they follow the truth, 2- they obey the commandments of Allah, 3- they will be victorious until the Last Hour, and 4- they are patient and resist others with patience.

The awliya’ of Allah are people of faith and piety who are constantly aware that Allah is watching them in all their affairs, so they adhere to His commands and heed His prohibitions. The degree of wilayah varies according to a person’s faith and fear of Allah. Wilayah is a divinely granted status that begins in the heart with love and veneration of Allah and is reflected in a person’s behavior. Wilayah does not mean that a person can do haram deeds or omit obligatory duties. The best of the ‘awliya’’ of Allah are the messengers and prophets, then the Companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), then those who came after them, then those who came after them. We do not know that the phrase “ashab Allah (friends of Allah)” was given to any of them.

Determining whether someone is a kafir or a fasiq is not up to us, rather it is up to Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). No one may be judged to be a kafir or fasiq except the one whom the Quran and Sunnah indicate is a kafir or fasiq.

There are 10 things that take one out of the fold of Islam: 1. Associating others in worship with Allah. 2. Whoever sets up intermediaries between himself and Allah and calls upon them. 3. Whoever does not regard the polytheists as disbelievers. 4. Whoever believes that anything other than the teaching of the Prophet is more complete than his teachings. 5. Whoever hates any part of that which the Prophet brought. 6. Whoever makes fun of anything in the religion of the Prophet. 7. Witchcraft – including spells to turn one person against another or to make someone love another. 8. Supporting the polytheists and helping them against the Muslims. 9. Whoever believes that some people are allowed to operate outside the law of Muhammad. 10. Turning away from the religion of Allah, not learning it and not acting in accordance with it.
