Basic Tenets of Faith
Are Prophets Infallible?
1. The Prophets are the best of mankind and the most noble of creation before Allah. The Prophets were infallible in conveying the message from Allah. They did not conceal anything that Allah had revealed to them, and they did not add anything from themselves. 2. With regard to the Prophets as people, they may make mistakes. This may be discussed as follows: 1- They do not commit major sins; 2- Matters that have nothing to do with conveying the message and the revelation; 3- Unintentional mistakes with regard to some worldly matters.SaveBelief in the Books and Messengers
• It is obligatory to believe in all the Books which Allah has revealed and in all the Prophets and Messengers whom Allah has sent. • The Prophets and Messengers are many, of whom Allah has mentioned twenty five in the Quran, and we are obliged to believe in all of them. • There are four heavenly books which Allah sent down. They are the Tawrat (Torah), Injil (Gospel), Zabur (Psalms) and the Quran.SaveWhat Is Belief in the Messengers?
Belief in the Messengers implies: 1- Firm belief that Allah sent to every nation a messenger to call them to worship Allah Alone, 2- Belief in those messengers whose names we know, such as Muhammad, Ibrahim, Musa, ‘Isa and Nuh, 3- Believing in the sound reports that have been narrated from the messengers, and 4- Following the laws of the messenger who has been sent to us, namely the Final Prophet, Muhammad, who was sent to all of mankind.SaveWhy Do We Need Prophets?
We need prophets to guide us to that which is best for us in this world and in the Hereafter. We cannot follow what is best for us with regard to the Hereafter unless we follow the message. We cannot be guided to what is best for us in this world unless we follow the message.SaveBelief of the Salaf Concerning the Quran
The Salaf believe that the Quran was revealed by Allah to Prophet Muhammad piecemeal over twenty-three years in accordance with the Wisdom of Allah. The Salaf also believe that the Quran is from Allah in the first place and it will return to Him at the end of time.SaveIs Mishandling the Torah and Gospel Permissible?
It is not permissible to mishandle the Torah and the Gospel because they still contain something of the words of Allah, and because they contain some of the names and attributes of Allah.SaveWhat Do Muslims Think about the Gospels?
1. Muslims believe that Allah revealed the Gospel (Injil) to His Prophet `Isa (Jesus). Muslims also believe that, apart from the Quran, no book remained as it was revealed by Allah, neither the Gospel nor anything else. 2. There are four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Christians agreed that Luke and Mark did not see the Messiah (peace be upon him), rather he was seen by Matthew and John. The four Gospels were written by these men after the Messiah had been taken up into heaven.SaveAre the Torah, Gospel and Zabur Truly the Words of Allah?
Nothing of the words of Allah is created. He spoke the Torah, the Gospel, the Quran and the Zabur in a real sense. Similarly, not a single letter of the Quran is created. It is all the words of Allah in a real sense. The same is also true of the Torah, the Gospel and the Zabur. We do not differentiate between the Messengers of Allah, and we do not differentiate between the revealed Books; all of them are the words of Allah.SaveBelief in the Books of Allah
